Helen Leek gave a fascinating talk and demonstration of the study she’s made over the last year of playing Bach.
Evgenia Startseva played a programme including the Beethoven Op.126 Bagatelles and the Schumann G minor Sonata and talked about her researches into the original Finale of the Sonata.
Bernard King gave a talk Preparing for Performance, drawing on his experience as a pianist, examiner and psychotherapist. His book The Thoughtless Pianist has been an inspiration to countless musicians.
Bernard also gave an online talk about the teaching method of Marcel Ciampi, the virtuoso pianist he studied with in Paris, illustrating his talk with recordings of Ciampi which can be heard on YouTube. He has written the only detailed account of Ciampi’s approach to technique in his book Piano Journey.

Chisato Kusunoki will be giving an illustrated talk about the Dagestan composer Murad Kazhlaev, whose piano music she has recorded and been the first pianist to play in the UK. She will talk about their meeting and her plans to record more of his music.
