Clare Hughes
I have been teaching the Alexander Technique at various locations in the UK and Australia for over 40 years. I came to the Alexander Technique when playing the Viola, and experiencing the many benefits, decided to train. It has been my privilege to work on four different Alexander training courses; most recently on one in Brighton for 12 years where I became Assistant Director. I have been involved with teaching young musicians at St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh and the East Sussex Preparatory music course. Over the years I have run many introductory groups but currently focus on offering individual lessons, mainly in Brighton where I live. I love teaching this unique method. I continue to learn from both my clients and the Continuous Professional Development workshops I attend. I am a member of STAT (The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique). Some years ago I trained to teach the Shaw Method of Swimming- swimming based on principles of the Alexander Technique. About half my time is currently spent teaching in the water. See my other website www.alexanderswimming.co.uk for details. |
Korina Biggs
I have been teaching the Alexander Technique since 2001 and I am a member of STAT (Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique).
As well as a private practice, I am on the BA Acting faculty at RADA and at the Institute of Contemporary Theatre, Brighton. I also work regularly with the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra.
I am currently serving on STAT Council and recently formed the EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) Advisory Group. I am part of the STAT Alexander in Education group and have previously served on the STAT Research Group and the Performing Self Team. I have presented at a variety of Alexander congresses, and dance conferences.
I love enabling people to move, breathe and perform more easily.

Lancing Piano Weekend 29-30 October 2022
Last autumn we welcomed 12 pianists to Lancing, two of them for the first time. With our three inspiring tutors, Chisato, Evgenia and Yuri giving lessons in the morning, we had some fascinating talks and demonstrations in the afternoons.
Brian Stimpson first gave us some wonderful insights into dance rhythms in Bach’s music, followed by Barbara Segal who transformed these into three dimensions with her lively demonstrations, in costume. Peter Copley brought the piano music of Frank Bridge to life - his latest talk and demonstration on British composers’ piano music for us.
Elizabeth Lamb provided some mouth-watering dishes at lunchtime and we met in Shoreham for a sociable supper on the Saturday evening. So, all in all we had an excellent balance of playing, listening, eating and socialising.
See photos from the Weekend here.
